What Sūrat Qāf is about
Sūrat Qāf has 45 āyāt in the twenty-sixth juzʼ. It opens with an oath by the glorious Qurʼān and with the deniers’ wonder that they could be raised once they are dust (50:1–3). Allah knows what the earth takes of them (50:4), and points to the sky built without flaw and the earth spread out with gardens and tall palms (50:6–10).
The sūrah says Allah created the human and knows what his soul whispers to him, and is nearer to him than his jugular vein (50:16). Two recorders take down every word (50:17–18). It describes death, the trumpet, the questioning of Hell (50:30) and the Garden brought near (50:31), and ends by telling the Prophet to remind with the Qurʼān whoever fears the warning (50:45).
- Āyāt 1–15
Raised from dust
The deniers wonder that a warner came to them and that the dead could return. Allah knows what the earth takes from them. He built the sky without flaws, spread the earth, and brings gardens and tall palms from rain. Peoples before them denied and the warning came true. Allah was not wearied by the first creation (50:15).
- Āyāt 16–35
Nearer than the jugular vein
Allah knows what a person’s soul whispers, and is nearer to him than his jugular vein (50:16). Two recorders take down every word. The stupor of death comes, the trumpet is blown, and each soul arrives with a driver and a witness (50:21). Hell is asked if it is full, and the Garden is brought near the mindful (50:30–31).
- Āyāt 36–45
Glorify before sunrise and sunset
Allah created the heavens and the earth in six days and no weariness touched Him (50:38). Be patient, and glorify your Lord before sunrise and before sunset (50:39). Listen for the Day the caller calls and the earth splits open. Remind with the Qurʼān whoever fears the warning (50:45).
