What Sūrat at-Takāthur is about

Sūrat at-Takāthur has 8 āyāt in the thirtieth juzʼ. Its name means competing for more. It opens: the race for more distracts you until you visit the graves (102:1–2).

Then comes a warning, given twice: no, you will come to know (102:3–4). If only people knew with certain knowledge. They will surely see the Fire, then see it with the eye of certainty (102:5–7). Then, on that Day, they will be asked about the pleasures they enjoyed (102:8).

  1. Āyāt 1–2

    The race for more

Competing with one another for more and more distracts people until they visit the graves.

  2. Āyāt 3–8

    You will be asked

No, you will come to know; again, no, you will come to know. If only you knew with certainty. You will surely see the Fire, then see it with the eye of certainty. Then on that Day you will be asked about the pleasures you enjoyed.
