What Sūrat at-Taghābun is about
Sūrat at-Taghābun has 18 āyāt in the twenty-eighth juzʼ. It opens with everything glorifying Allah, to whom belong the dominion and the praise (64:1). He created people, and some disbelieve and some believe (64:2). He knows what is in the heavens and the earth, and what is in the hearts (64:4).
It is named after the Day of Gathering, the day of mutual loss and gain (64:9). The sūrah says no hardship strikes except by Allah’s leave, and He guides the heart of whoever believes (64:11). Among spouses and children some may be a trial, so be careful, and pardon (64:14–15). Be mindful of Allah as much as you can (64:16).
- Āyāt 1–10
The day of loss and gain
Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth and formed people well (64:3). Earlier peoples denied their messengers and tasted the result. The deniers claim they will not be raised; they will, and be told what they did (64:7). The Day of Gathering is the day of mutual loss and gain (64:9).
- Āyāt 11–18
As much as you can
No hardship strikes except by Allah’s leave, and He guides the heart of whoever believes (64:11). Some spouses and children may be enemies to you, yet pardon and forgive (64:14). Wealth and children are a test (64:15). Be mindful of Allah as much as you can (64:16). A good loan to Allah is multiplied (64:17).
