What Sūrat al-Bayyinah is about
Sūrat al-Bayyinah has 8 āyāt in the thirtieth juzʼ. It is named after the clear proof: a messenger from Allah reciting purified pages, in which are upright writings (98:1–3). Those given the Book did not divide until after the clear proof had come to them (98:4).
The sūrah says people were commanded only to worship Allah, sincere in religion and upright, to keep up the prayer and pay zakāh, and that this is the upright religion (98:5). Those who believe and do good are the best of creation; Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him (98:7–8).
- Āyāt 1–5
The clear proof
The deniers among the People of the Book and the idolaters would not let go until the clear proof came: a messenger from Allah reciting purified pages. They divided only after it came. They were commanded only to worship Allah sincerely, pray and pay zakāh (98:5).
- Āyāt 6–8
The best of creation
Those who deny will be in the Fire of Hell forever; they are the worst of creation. Those who believe and do good are the best of creation. Their reward is Gardens of ʿAdn; Allah is pleased with them, and they with Him (98:8).
