What Sūrat az-Zalzalah is about

Sūrat az-Zalzalah has 8 āyāt in the thirtieth juzʼ. It opens with the earth shaken with its quake, which gives the sūrah its name, throwing out its burdens, while the human asks what is wrong with it (99:1–3).

On that Day the earth will tell its news, because its Lord inspired it (99:4–5). People will come out in scattered groups to be shown their deeds (99:6). Whoever has done an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever has done an atom’s weight of evil will see it (99:7–8).

  1. Āyāt 1–5

The earth will tell its news

When the earth is shaken with its quake and throws out its burdens, and the human asks what is wrong with it, on that Day it will tell its news, because its Lord has inspired it.

  2. Āyāt 6–8

    An atom’s weight

On that Day people come out in scattered groups to be shown their deeds. Whoever has done an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever has done an atom’s weight of evil will see it.
