What Sūrat aḍ-Ḍuḥā is about

Sūrat aḍ-Ḍuḥā has 11 āyāt in the thirtieth juzʼ. It opens with oaths by the morning light and the night when it is still: your Lord has not left you, nor does He dislike you (93:1–3). What comes later will be better for the Prophet than what came first (93:4).

Your Lord will give you, and you will be content (93:5). The sūrah reminds the Prophet that he was an orphan and given shelter, lost and guided, in need and made sufficient (93:6–8). So do not treat the orphan harshly, do not turn away the one who asks, and speak of your Lord’s blessing (93:9–11).

  1. Āyāt 1–5

Your Lord has not left you

By the morning light and the still night, your Lord has not left you and does not dislike you. What is to come is better for you than what came before. Your Lord will give you, and you will be content.

  2. Āyāt 6–11

The orphan and the one who asks

Did He not find you an orphan and shelter you, find you lost and guide you, find you in need and make you sufficient? So do not treat the orphan harshly, do not turn away the one who asks, and speak of your Lord’s blessing (93:11).
